Incarnation 2025

“Last year a curious experience in a hypnotic world made me feel as if I had incarnated down into my body again. It took me to a tender moment in my childhood when I chose to levitate above my body as a form of protection. Sometimes this world is so sharp- we have to leave without leaving. Sometimes we return, as we remember”

Incarnation is a series of paintings and brass sculptures that look at the act of a spirit (in the rainbow world) choosing a body – choosing our ancestors, our lessons, lovers, karmas and kin.

Three paintings –

‘Spirit chooses flesh’ is a depiction of a world beyond this world before our lives begin- where the lovemaking of deities gives us spirit and choice.

‘Flesh chooses form’ is a self portrait at a moment of sacred fire- how we come to terms with our bodies in our lifetimes, and learn how to defend and protect our most tender hearts.
‘My body is metal waiting to be forged’

“I choose you (to remain here on earth)” is a love story that makes the future. Scribbled as prayer it says “when you touch my skin, I want in again”.
A prayer for the kind of love that makes generations to come – lifelong and everlasting.

Shilo Shiv Suleman also makes two hearts (one her own, one for future lover) that are forged in fire, cast in brass and jeweled with amethyst, tourmaline, garnet and glimmer. Etched into the hearts are topographies and rib.
